24/11/2009 – Int Canteen Day Set-up

November 24, 2009 at 11:01 am (Steves Lesson)

In todays lesson we’ve had to think about starting our video blogs, and my first one will be the script that steve gave us to review. Its all about this girl and boy meeting for the first time at their canteen, and yet there is a twist about that secretly they know eachother. complicated i know but its fine.

Ive decided id like to do the characters as Puppet people, or bireds/ Tebby bears, what ever i can find / buy/ make myself. I have 25 shots to film, so think this will take a while, although i now know that i have to film each scence as 1 shot. Also the only people i’d need is a girls voice, and 3 boy voices. Deciding on doing puppets was easier than finding suitable candidates to play the roles of Sara, Tom and the other two boys… (Man and Friend). also using the puppets will help me with my Chatham project with Claire for the Creative & Media Diploma, as for our prject about Chatham, im using a teddy bear called Berny, to travel around Chatham as a tourist and to help educate children, with all the history and secrets that chatham hold.  Having this helps be also get used to using a video camera, although i have made my own videos using different software, but its all good at the momment.

Now all im going to do is find the people i want to use as voice overs and suitable puppets to help me carry it off!

Wish me luck :D

Well just had a look on the internet but its not going too well…..

Found a woman but not a man although i have found a piarte, maybe he will help me out. Think i have to do alot more research to see what comes up or maybe think about making one. Dont know how easy it will be but ill have to wait and see, maybe do some paper models first. Ill ask steve and see if i can do it in his lesson. You never knw..

Miss Congeniality

November 23, 2009 at 7:13 pm (Reviews)

When a serial killer’s next target is the Miss United States beauty pageant, the F.B.I decides that they must get an undercover agent to participant in the contest. When the team search for a suitable person to take on the job, there’s only one person, who happens to be the same female agent who recently ignored instructions when on a job at a gun point bar.  Gracie Hart played by Sandra Bullock, ends up competing as Miss New Jersey in the beauty pageant, however things go terribly wrong when the F.B.I pick up the wrong killer. Gracie insists that she stays to catch the person behind the threats and soon discovers who the real serial killer is, the pageant managers, who were being fired after 21 years.

I Love Miss Congeniality! It’s the perfect chick flick and I love the idea of going under cover myself. Not only is there romance but a lot of humour as Gracie Hart isn’t really the girlie girl type, until she has a full body makeover, and is transformed into a beautiful young lady, although you still wouldn’t want to mess with her. I also love the performance that Gracie Hart gives about self defence, as I believe that its educational and that many women should know how to do this kind of stuff as a just in case, because you never know what could happen.  It’s definitely not the first time I’ve watched it and won’t be the last!

November 22, 2009 at 3:17 pm (Steves Lesson)

Today in Stevens lesson i got the chance to know how to edit short movies making them what i’d like to show and also how to set up this blog. The movie i had to edit was actually really interesting to watch for it was all about Anti-socail behavour and how normal people on the streets feel about it aswell as tennagers; seeing as  we get all the stick for the problems that happen because everybody feels like we are the terrible lot, whereas in reality theres only a few number of teenagers who are actually the trouble makers, coursing the rest of us to suffer. I found the actually construction of the film to be very well procented as there where a few camera tricks and effects that made it more interesting and gave me alot of inpiration for when i start my very own film about ME :D

Although im very tired after traveling back from Scotland last night, but still enjoyed his lesson.

Julie And Julia

November 22, 2009 at 3:13 pm (Reviews)

Julie and Julia is a drama comedy film directed by Nora Ephron. The film is about when Julie Powell Played by Actress Amy Adams, attempts to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s cookbook, “Mastering the Art of French cooking”, in the year 2002, but the book happened to be written in the 1960’s. Julie ends up writing a daily blog about her progress with the manic task of completing this recipe book in a year’s time. Julia admires Julia’s way of work and loves her to pieces, but when the task has finally completed, Julie gets a phone call that she didn’t really want to hear. It happened to be from the manager of Julia and she ends up saying that she’s basically took advantage and that she doesn’t appreciate her work.

I thought this film was amazing and extremely well organised, even though I could see a few people falling asleep, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although there were a few places throughout the film that were a tad uninspiring.  It was definitely a funny film as throughout Julia makes funny remarks and little comments to the other actors and it just brings the whole film together. Looking back I would have made a few changes, as I got a little confused about where I was, as it jumps from 1960’s to 2002, and some of the time it’s a little too confusing  as you’ve got to remember what’s been happening in that year frame.

Cinderella

November 11, 2009 at 11:40 am (Reviews)

In a kingdom far, far away, Cinderella is living happily with her mother and father until unfortunately her mother dies. However, even worse than that is that her father remarries an evil, cruel woman who has two daughters of her own. When Cinderella’s father dies her wicked stepmother turns her into a servant in her own home. Meanwhile, in a castle, the king determines that his son should find a suitable bride and to provide the king with many grandchildren. The king ends up inviting many women into the kingdom for a fancy dress ball, where his son has to choose his wife to be. Cinderella ends up depressed that she can’t go so her fairy Godmother steps in to lend a hand where she has a beautiful makeover and ends up falling in love with the Prince, until her spell has worn off. The only thing left of that night is Cinderella’s glass slipper, which the prince uses to find her and they live happily ever after.

I love Cinderella, it’s a proper princess film and I remember watching it many times as a young girl. It’s definitely one of my top 10 films to watch, and I would always recommend this film to any young princesses out there.  Even though there is much better quality animation films out there for example: Toy Story and Bolt, I really appreciate the old techniques of hand drawn and coloured cells that were used to produce the original Cinderella.

Sixth Sense

November 8, 2009 at 8:21 pm (Reviews)

Bruce Willis’s character ( Malcolm Crowe) is a child psychologist who receives an award on the same night where he is visited by an ex-patient of his and ends up being shot. However, a few months later you see Malcolm try to cure a young boy named Cole who has similar symptoms to his ex-patient Vincent. Cole is known as the “freak”  at school as he has a gift of seeing dead people and throughout the film, Malcolm tries to make Cole understand that there people are coming to him to ask for his help, not to frighten him. Cole discovers a film made by a young girl who has recently died as a result of being poisoned by her step-mother. In order to protect her younger sister, the girl asks Cole to show the video to her father. At the end of the film you realise that Malcolm is actually dead, therefore that’s why the boy can see him; even though you see him interact with other people it tricks your brain into thinking he is alive.

Sixth Sense is an incredible thriller film. the camera/sound effects are designed to make you think a lot more than what you would and are very affective. throughout the film, i was led to believe that Malcolm was still alive, until the wonderful twist at the end when you realise all is not what it appears to be. I would definitely see this film again and would recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers.

Harry Potter Review

November 8, 2009 at 8:05 pm (Reviews)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was really all about the death of Professor Dumbledore. As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School, he discovers an old book marked ” The Half-Blood Prince” and soon begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort’s dark past. Not only that, but Harry tries to find out Voldemorts weakness.

When I saw this movie trailer advertised, I was really excited to go and see the film that was released in July 2009, however I was heavily disappointed. Having watched the previous 5 movies and thoroughly enjoyed them, I was angry that I had paid to have watched the weakest out of the set.

There were only a few good scenes and one of those was where you realise that Professor Snape is on the dark side when he kills Dumbledore ( although his death could have been a little more inpiring.) It doesn’t surprise me as Snape hasn’t been nice throughout the series and you know that there are secrets to be revealed.

There were a few camera and noise effects but really the whole movie was a shambles. The ending just ends abrupty and doesn’t really do anything for the movie.

The best part were the trailors at the beginning as they seemed to be a lot more eye catching than the actual movie. I hope that the following films are better in finishing the collection of Harry Potter, and that you see a lot more action than you did in this one.

Tinsle And Turkey!

November 3, 2009 at 12:17 pm (MY tours)

Scotland

During half term, (29th october – 2nd november) my family, family friends and myself went up to Scotland for a mock christmas… which happened to be really FUN although along time on the coach up there and back.

My mum and me have always wanted to go up to Scotland but have always been put off by the fact it will take 2 days there and back by coach, although we could go by plane, but yes being on the coach for 12 hours made us all have sore bums..haha.

Being there has been a very exciting experience although got fed up with the wet weather, although more like torential rain and floods. Quite funny when your not in them, ha we went to a Blaire Castle and got a good sunny-ish day however going to Dundee it poured cats and dogs and we got soaked. But Scotland no matter about the weather has the more magnificent scenery that you could ever wish for. Not only that but our hotel- even though in the middle of no where - was right by a lock and a waterwheel place. So peaceful and beautful to look out on in the morning, if you could see outside as at 6 it was black.

We had pub quiz’s (in a hotel) and the weakest link played by a dude called Steve who has worked there for many years and we so funny by dressing up as Ann. He was one of those people who you just click with….the food and entertainment were brilliant and even the company :D

Over all we had a wonderful time and wouldnt change it for the world! x
