Advertising….
For the Brook theatre exhibition, which was on 24th March 2010, I ended up advertising early to get as many people in as possible. Although on the night there were hundreds of people, I’m not sure if any of them where from where I advertised but never mind.
These are the places I advertised:
- Asda’s
- Texas Moon Line Dancing Club
- Invicta Camera CLub
- Mid-Kent College Magazine
- Mid-Kent College Campus
- The Milton CMC Rugby Club at Gravesend.
I also ended up advertising at BAE Systems where my mum works.
And for all the computer people I ended up creating a facebook event, inviting all of my friends. Some how because I’ve never done one of these before, I ended up leaving it open for everyone to add other people and in the end i closed that off, because there were people going just for a laugh and not to take our exhibition serisouly.
Poster
This is my first poster. As a group we decided we would all make a poster each and also to keep “Art In Action” as our name because that was our name from the last exhibition so who ever went last time will ….well should recognise the name.
I wanted it to be very bright and colourful but also to have all the info that i found out on thursday. There needs to be info about the parking aswell as the refreshments on offer. Not only to mention that it is FREE to get in, which is always a bonus. This is the first one i did but i ended up changing the “food and drink” for “refreshments”… i also changed the image of the Brook making it rotated and adding a box around it giving it that extra touch.I also mentioned about parking as there may be people who turn up who arent familiar with Chatham and so i thought i should add that in.
This is my 2nd one. I sent it to my friend Chris who does advertising and graphic design at uni and wanted his opinion. I also changed the “s” on “Brook Street” as it wasnt a capital. I found out that maybe the colours from behind wasnt good for the writing so i ended up with this as my final piece. I changed a different colour of the pink making it softer and also changed things around a little.
So this is my final peice which will be posted EVERYWHERE!
Im going to go down into Chatham on friday and shoot my teddy bear, so as im doing that im going to have loads with me to ask in stores if they wouldnt mind putting it up for me.
Im also going to give some to the Brook if they wouldnt mind publicising it and also going up to asdas and asking them if i can give them out to people.
Not only that but i got to Invictia camera club and there will be some there. And Texas Moon country line dancing club where there will be a poster on each table for people to read and take home. So hopefully it will be very well publicised by me anyway.
Advertising
For the Brook Theatre, we have to advertise our work. Because of an exhibition last year and its problems we decided we would create a poster, leaflet, invitation and pass ourselves so that even though we have the same info, we’re able to do what ever style we like, because last year we had a lot of arguments.
I later went down after taking the lead again within the group, to get all our answers for the questions that we needed to help us with our advertising, and because they werent responding to our emails i decided to meet with the manger of the Brook to discuss the issues. When i went down there i found out there he had nothing to do with the exhibition apart from reserving the space, and that he was having a meeting with Julian Zane who was the leading role in organising this exhibition.
If im honest im glad i went as i got all the answers i needed even though there were a few personal issues (which i wont mention on here) but apart form that i found out a lot of what was happening and a lot of stuff i didnt, which has made it clearer for me to then later talk to my class mates about. I also found out that a lot of the questions that i asked we should already have answers for, but unfortunately i didnt so thats why they were asked again.
There might be a few issues like the fact that we have to set up the day before but actually on the day its being shown to the public, there isnt really going to be anyone seeing it as it doesnt open to the public until 4:30pm. Which i feel is a tad of a waste of time but its not down to us. We also have the problem with taking down the stuff at 9pm. Which means everyone will have to stay so they can take their work home. Not only that but some of the class mates have big pieces which means if they have no way to get it home, we’re stuck. its also hard because its so late at night, but they have said we can use one room as storage until 12 the next day.
I also have an issue with the exhibition being on a Wednesday – 24th March 2010. But thats just the way it goes.
I hope everything goes okay and we have a great day.
